Dr. Carole Reiss

Dr. Carole Reiss has been an educator for 45 years, working tirelessly with diverse populations of students in both New York City and New Jersey throughout her illustrious career. As a full-time appointed teacher of health and physical education, Dr. Reiss was intimately involved with the roll out of the NYC FITNESSGRAM annual fitness assessment for students. She also served as Regional Director of Fitness and Health to Districts 3, 5, and 6 in Upper Manhattan. It was at this time that her interest in building her own charter school program began, specifically by basing an educational model around providing greater accessibility to STE(A)M subjects. It is through this methodology that Dr. Reiss believes students will be best equipped to pursue higher education or begin successful careers. 

She believes in the power of nurturing and encouraging her students to be successful and does not allow for failure. In the spirit of diversity, equity, and inclusion, she does not accept that any one student deserves less of a quality education than any other student, and she is passionate about ensuring that every child can achieve greatness and capitalize on their God-given talents. 

Dr. Reiss received her Doctor of Philosophy for Leadership in K-12 Schools from Capella University, submitting her thesis “The Effects of Mindful Exercise on Standardized Test Scores”, which effectively illustrated the direct connection between mindfulness practices and academic performance. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The City College of New York.

Most recently, Dr. Reiss has become the Supervisor of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) for the NYC DOE. The SYEP is partnering with Carole on the Four Rivers Charter School application. The program is teaching young college students the process of opening a charter school and tutoring program.
